Microneedling and IPL

All treatments are administered by our licensed nurse practitioner.

What does Microneedling and Intense Pulsated Light (IPL) do for you?

Both procedures rejuvenates the skin by creating minor injury to the mid to upper layers of the skin. This injury triggers your body’s wound healing processes and more importantly promotes collagen growth.

What is the difference between Microneedling and IPL?

Microneedling treats the overall texture and appearance of your skin while IPL focuses on skin imperfections, lightening, removing sun spots or age spots, and unwanted hair removal. Both of these procedures work separately or in conjunction to achieve skin rejuvenation.

Why you should do it

To restore your skin to it’s natural glow and beauty. Your face and skin will appear refreshed making you feel younger and happier.

Microneedling uses fine needles to create micropunctures to the skin. This injury releases cytokines, including growth factors to heal.

Cytokines are signaling proteins that stimulate cell growth, survival differentiation, inflammation and more importantly tissue repair.

Adding Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) to microneedling has important growth factors to increase the rate of healing, promoting collagen production, and other proteins that support the skin.

This is done by drawing blood from your arm, separating platelets then applying them into the recently microneedled areas on your face.

Typically every 4-6 weeks

Anywhere between 1 and 6 treatments depending on desired results.

Expect about:

  • 1 treatment if you’re trying to minimize your pores
  • 2-3 treatment sessions to rejuvenate the skin.
  • 4-6 treatments for deep scars

Once results are achieved then maintenance is 2-3 times a year.

Microneedling can be done every 4-6 weeks.

The skin will return to the natural aging process of collagen loss.

IPL sends light to penetrates down to the second layer of your skin (dermis). Pigment cells (i.e. freckles and other spots) absorb the light energy, which is converted into heat. The heat destroys the unwanted pigment/ color and by encouraging collagen formation.

At our office, we use the Clareon IPL System containing several filters to create the different wavelengths needed for treating multiple skin types. More importantly it uses a patented Krypton flashlamp that provides extensive light output and depth penetration while decreasing the risk of patient burns and ineffective treatments.

IPL photofacial results will be apparent for 6 – 12 months

Photofacial: 4 – 6 treatments

Hair removal: 6-12 treatments. 6 sessions will get rid of  70% of hair permanently.

4-6 week intervals

Photo-facials are recommended once a year for maintenance

The skin will return to the natural aging process with possibility of age spots coming back and sun damage with prolonged sun exposure. Hair can come back.
